Here are some pics!!!
Tucker walked around the station like he owned it. He even got to drive around with them. What a spoiled dog! The guys got to practice their "dog harness" techniques with rope and they also loved tuckers willingness to help out when they were washing the engines. :)
They were also impressed by tuckers obedience and asked me to train and work with their dogs when they all go out on strike teams! lol

Tucker was outside getting some fresh air, I was on a the couch reading a book and Josh was on the other couch taking a nap. Tucker comes inside the house, walks by me and licks my book (which scared me a little) and then he sits in front of the sleeping boy on the other couch and stares at him for a minute. Tucker than jumps up on the couch with the sleeping boy and cuddles in until he finds a perfect spot. Josh doesn't even move or notice that a huge 85pound dog just jumped up next to him. Tucker falls asleep almost immediately. They both slept for about 30 minutes! Here are the pics I managed to snap (Tucker picked up his head once to see what the heck I was doing all sneakly..lol)
I think Tucker still thinks he is a 20lb puppy! lol

The City of Upland, Helping Out Pets Everyday, The Grove Theatre, and PetSmart are joining forces to create a fun-filled and exciting way for pets and their owners to help orphaned pets in the community.On February 7th, PetSmart, located at 1935 North Campus Ave. in Upland, will host dog auditions for the next "Star" to have their picture adorned on the promotional poster at the Grove Theater for the running of the smash it musical "BARK".
The winner will also receive 4 tickets to a special presentation of "BARK" on Thursday, February 19th at the Grove Theater and be presented with the promotional poster after the show has concluded.
Twenty second-place winners will have their dog's picture prominently displayed at The Grove Theater throughout the running of "BARK".

Well, wouldn't you know it...Tucker is one of the top Twenty-Second place winners!! lol Over 400 dogs entered.
Grandma Paula told us about the contest and we all went together to experience the fun. Tucker was very excited and wanted to play with ALL the other dogs. But as soon as it was his turn to get in front of the camera all that excited energy was gone.
I think Tucker enjoys taking pictures..I've been taking pictures of him since he was a pup. I taught him the "Watch me" command which I think really helped in this contest.
We won 2 tickets to see the Special Presentation of "BARK!" on Thursday night at The Grove in Upland. We are so excited to see the picture "prominently displayed"! :)

Well...SAR (Search And Rescue) practice went great today. Today Tucker went to a SAR practice field to see if he was ready to start practicing for the SAR certification test. I started training tucker to "Air Scent" when he was about 4 months old. I read some books on how to teach a puppy the basic SAR techniques and I worked with tucker weekly. I started teaching him how to play "hide-n-seek" and how to "find" people. He took to the game and loves to play it.
Well today, some of the evaluators played with tucker and set up some small SAR scenarios. After giving tucker the "find" command he went off full force with an intensity that was amazing to watch. He found the "victim" with ease. They increased the SAR scenario distance to a wider area and he again found the "victim" with no problem (tucker is the greatest!!lol).
We will be taking tucker to meet up with the team to practice every Friday to help prepare him for the certification test. The first certification test consists of finding 1 "victim" on a 40 acre area in under 2 hours. The next certification level is to find 2 "victims" on a 160 acre area in under 4 hours. We will be working towards taking both tests.
There are a few things we still have to work on (teaching the "show me" command, the "emergency stop/freeze, and fine tuning his "air scenting" to a wider area). We are up for the challenge...we still have a lot to learn. What an exciting way to serve the community! I have always had a passion and heart to serve others and this is just another way to help serve people. Josh and I are very excited for this opportunity.
I will keep you updated on tuckers progress...it should be exciting! :)
Josh is back to work. We really enjoyed are time together while he was home.
We visited Long Beach Dog Beach this weekend and met up with some other local Labrador retriever dog owners. It was fun to see them all frolicking in the ocean water. The beach was very calm and tucker enjoyed playing "fetch" most of the day. Tucker knows not to drink the ocean water (we make sure to provide lots of drinking water nearby) but unfortunetly when he grabs the fetch toy in his mouth from the ocean water, he and all other dogs swallow some water. This can be very dangerous for dogs because they can't digest salt. It can lead to death if too much salt water is ingested. Tucker threw up two times before we went home. We felt so bad. Poor thing. But immediatly after throwing up we could tell he was feeling much better. Whew...thank goodness.
He was in a puppy obediance class and he graduated very early!! lol. He was due to graduate with the rest of the class in a few weeks, but the trainer thought it was pointless to be in the class (other than for socialization) because he already knew all the commands she was teaching. Well, actually I thought it was pointless. She said he should be in a intermediate training class. I only signed him up for the class to socialize with other dogs on a regular basis. As she was going through the test that we all had to complete on graduation day...she asked me if I wanted to try it. Of course tucker and I were very eager. We passed with flying colors and she gave us our certificate. I told her that we weren't returning to the class (I will be out of state during a few sessions).
So glad the class is over...we were bored and tucker was getting treats for commands he already knew! lol
We are looking into starting him in a therapy dog program in September to prepare him for his Therapy Dog Certification, so we can go visit people in hospitals, schools and other facilities. I can't wait!!
